今週の日曜ツアーは、江戸時代の上流階級の宿場町として知られる、琵琶湖近くの草津に行った。最初に草津宿本陣を訪れた。本陣は当時の大名のための公共の宿泊施設だった。その後、草津歴史博物館に行った。宿場としての江戸時代の草津の歴史について学んだ。その博物館はとてもインタラクティブだったので、とても面白かった。私たちは昔の時代からタイムトラベルしてきた人のような格好をした。私たちは17世紀に生まれた有名な芸術の動きである「浮世絵」を体験したりもした。その後、私たちはカフェ・トリコロールという小さなレストランへ昼食に行き、オムライスを食べた。草津への道のりはとても楽しかった。私たちは琵琶湖を横断する近江大橋を自転車で走った。眺めはとても素晴らしかった！行程は全部で約50㎞だった。私はそこに行き、日本の魅力的な歴史についてさらに学べてとてもうれしい。(ミリアム)
For this week Sunday’s tour, we went to Kusatsu, a city near Biwa Lake, known as a former « accommodation town » for the society’s elite during the Edo Period. We first visit Kusatsu-juku Honjin. A « Honjin » was a public accommodation for the « daimyo » (Japanese feudal lords) at the time. After, we visited the Kusatsu History Museum. We learned about the history of Kusatsu as a « shukuba » (accommodation town) during the Edo Period. The museum was a lot of fun, because it was interactive. We dressed up like the travelers from the old days. We also tried « ukiyo-e » (Japanese woodblock prints), a famous artistic movement that emerged during the 17th century. Then, we went for lunch in a small restaurant named Café Tricolore and ate « omuraisu » (omelette rice). The overall ride to Kusatsu was pretty fun. We biked on the Omi Ohashi Bridge that crosses Lake Biwa. What a view! The round trip was about 50km! I am very glad we went there and learned more about Japan’s fascinating history!(Myriam)
